We want to share these amazing and sometimes surprising moments and hope you will enjoy our photos as much as we have enjoyed taking them. We hope to update our blog as we experience more bird encounters on our balcony. Remember to check out Journey and In Plain Sight for more about us! Comments are always appreciated! We're 2 newly-minted-teenage sisters who recently got into bird watching, especially since just outside our balcony is a sliver of forest in the middle of urban Singapore! It occasionally nipped at its poor prey like it was tearing it apart. We realized it had captured something like a lizard! :O When we spotted the Brahminy kite, we noticed it was clutching something in its claws. It’s easy to spot due to its contrasting chestnut wings, back and rounded tail, and white head and chest.ĭiet: It is primarily a scavenger but also hunts various smaller animals, including fish, frogs, lizards (see 19th November pictures!), rats and food scraps.įun fact: In Malaysia, the island of Langkawi is named after this bird (kawi meaning an ochre-like stone, the colour of this kite’s wings!). You can find them on coasts and inland wetlands, but also flying over parks and gardens. The pet policies of Brahminy Kite Holiday Home are listed below. This was the first bird of prey we spotted!
